A healthy indoor climate means improving employee wellbeing

The jewelry company Pandora moved in the summer of 2016 into brand new premises at Havneholmen in Copenhagen. Bystrup Architects and Designers projected just under 14,000 square meters of office and basement space for the builder Skanska. The structure consists of two buildings on six floors each, which is joined by a glass intermediate building on all six floors a single headquarters with a total capacity of 550 employees. The project was designed with a focus on the optimization of energy consumption and indoor climate. This is not least evident in the selection of building solutions that have gone to the maximum utilizing the daylight and thus minimizing the need for artificial lighting and heating. That's why the coastal ceiling in the office areas is one of the most important solutions of the project.

Natural light and optimal acoustics, what else?

The acoustic matte white surface has a light reflection index of above 87 percent so that the daylight is drawn further into the building. At the same time, it provides a non-dazzling spread of daylight around the building. All in all, that means that the need for artificial lighting is significantly reduced. In addition, the acoustic ceiling design is made with diffuse ventilation, so the whole ceiling surface acts as one large supply air in which the fresh air slowly seeps down the entire surface. This eliminates the need for visible fixtures, and to ensure the necessary air change without being bothersome noise and drag. An acoustic ceiling with the right combination of high light reflection and good light diffusion creates a uniform and regular spread of the natural light in a room and can drastically reduce the need for an artificial one.

- It is a very stylish solution, where spaciousness, interior design, and materials are optimized so that sound, air, and light in the building can provide a great working environment for the employees, explains Henrik Skouboe, project manager at Bystrup Architects and Designers.

Because productivity increases faster when you have great indoor air quality

Studies show that the indoor climate is not only of great significance for people's experience in their workplace. Similarly, productivity depends on factors such as noise level, air change, and temperature. Having proper ventilation and optimizing the temperature can lead to a consistent rise of productivity both in the routine tasks and to the ones that require deep concentration. Reducing unwanted noises can directly improve employees' conditions and reduce stress levels in workspaces. Thanks to Rockfon Blanka you can have multiple factors that contribute to a great indoor climate and therefore optimize productivity in the workplace. With its flexible solutions, it is possible to create a beautiful and unique design without compromising acoustics and quality.
