Light, bright and open
A new office in Aarhus is the third in a series of flagship buildings for Danske Bank, all designed by Arkitema. Despite being six floors tall with a compact structure that makes it easy to navigate, the Aarhus office is immediately recognisable for its bright and open spaces. With large windows drawing in natural daylight, the airy design creates a vibrant and buzzy space.
Acoustics were high on the agenda
Arkitema’s Senior Project Architect Michael Green considered acoustics from the get-go. “When you have a building that is very open and primarily consists of open plan offices there is a natural amount of noise,” explains Green. “People talk with each other — on the phone and informally as they meet — which create noisy disturbances, if you don’t consider acoustics in the design.”
To achieve comfortable acoustics on this scale without compromising on the beautiful open aesthetic, Arkitema needed an acoustic ceiling that complemented their design. They chose Rockfon Blanka® because it has a bright white finish and a unique tiled design. This design allowed them to work beautiful lines across the ceiling, which draw the eye further through the space to enhance the feeling of openness.
The power of durability and simple maintenance
As well as a great look and feel, Green wanted a ceiling that could easily integrate with the lighting system and enable easy long-term maintenance. “Durability is key for a large and busy office space,” says Green. “Being able to easily demount and remount the ceiling tiles without having to consider the direction of the panel was important, which made Rockfon Blanka the natural choice.”
