The Fire Safety of Stone Wool
With millions of urban fires each year, safe building materials matter more than ever.
Stone wool has very low calorific content, which makes it certifiably non-combustible. It will not contribute to fire development, produce significant smoke, or create flaming droplets during a fire.
Safe Building Materials
As fires develop more than six times faster than in the 1950s, fire safety is more critical than ever in the construction and renovation of buildings.
Every building material contributes to fire safety, and acoustic ceiling and wall solutions are an important part of that protection.
Non-Combustible
Rockfon stone wool is made from volcanic rock and is typically non‑combustible, meaning it adds minimal or no fuel to a fire.
It won’t ignite or burn, helping slow fire spread naturally without the need for toxic flame retardants.
Certifications
Most Rockfon stone wool solutions are rated A1 under EN 13501‑1, the highest reaction‑to‑fire class. Rockfon ceiling grids are also A1, strengthening full‑system safety.
Fire ratings are listed in product data sheets and Declarations of Performance.
