Keeping our operational footprint small
Local and responsible sourcing
We prioritise the local sourcing of volcanic stone and other raw materials, typically locating our manufacturing sites close to quarries and suppliers.
The majority of basalt suppliers for Rockfon production lines in Europe are within 300 km of the facilities.
Investing in lower-emissions manufacturing
By transitioning our production lines to electric melting technology linked to renewable energy, we can reduce CO2 emissions by up to 80 percent.
We have already made substantial progress on this journey and are continuing our investments, contributing to global climate goals and ensuring low levels of embodied carbon for our acoustic solutions.
Reducing the footprint of our factories further
All our stone wool factories’ electricity consumption is matched by renewable energy credits. And in 2024, we signed a power purchase agreement for the delivery of more than 50 GWh of renewable electricity annually to the ROCKWOOL factory in Roermond, the Netherlands.
By transitioning to a new binder technology at this same facility, we substantially reduce our ammonia emissions.
