Sustainability and Circular Economy in the Building Industry:
Concepts, Trends and Certification towards more Sustainable Construction
Concepts, Trends and Certification towards more Sustainable Construction
SUSTAINABILITY is increasingly becoming a prerequisite for all human activity. This, not the least within the construction industry which constitutes a major economic driver worldwide while simultaneously also being the most resource-intensive and thus environmentally impacting human single factor on Planet Earth.
In this seminar, we will look into the definition of this overall very broad term and topic of SUSTAINABLE CONSTRUCTION, as well as the present trends in setting up criteria for working towards more sustainable buildings.
Also, the seminar will give an insight into relevant models, documentation, standards, certification, and rating schemes useful as tools for making TRIPLE BOTTOM LINE material choices in building design while extending the scope of such choices to include social and wellbeing aspects. Exemplified with acoustic ceilings, our focus will be both global and local including BCA Green Mark, (SGBP) Singapore Green Building Product and Singapore Green Labelling Scheme (SGLS).
In a true circular economy with long-lasting healthy materials, the concept of waste and resource depletion is replaced by closed material loops that is energized by corporations operating in environmentally, socially, and economically sustainable way within PLANETARY BOUNDARIES.
