Multifunctional venue with high acoustic ambitions

In Puławy, Poland, one of the country’s most modern entertainment and sports halls was designed with input from athletes and guided by a professional acoustician. The 3200-seat venue features Rockfon Mono Acoustic, Rockfon Eclipse, Rockfon VertiQ, Rockfon Blanka, and Rockfon Samson. Together, these solutions achieved precise reverberation control while complementing the aesthetic requirements of this large-scale, multi-use space.

Perfect harmony of acoustic and aesthetic values

The MOSiR Sports and Entertainment Hall in Puławy was developed to host international sporting events, concerts, and televised productions. The venue offers 3200 seats, including 1336 fixed, 76 VIP, and 1726 telescopic positions. At its centre is a 2700 square-metre North American maple floor – known from NBA courts – making it the largest of its kind in Europe.

Designed by Janusz Gąsiorowski of a local architectural studio, the project involved early consultation with athletes and local user groups. Their input influenced the final layout and functionality, ensuring the hall would serve both professional performance standards and community needs.

Given the scale and materials used – glass and concrete throughout – acoustic planning was essential. A professional acoustician was brought in during concept development to shape the hall geometry, set acoustic targets, and perform baseline testing. Post-installation measurements validated the design outcomes.

The ceiling solution combines Rockfon Mono Acoustic with circular Rockfon Eclipse islands, balancing acoustic control with visual impact. The Eclipse islands align with a dramatic circular lighting structure, contributing to the industrial yet refined aesthetic of the main arena.

To address sound at multiple levels, Rockfon VertiQ wall panels were installed to absorb lateral reflections and offer impact resistance. In adjacent areas – offices, halls, and meeting rooms – Rockfon Blanka tiles were selected for their high light reflection and ultra-matt white surface. In the main arena, Rockfon Samson tiles added durability for high-traffic areas.

Acoustic performance was verified through 86 measurement points using the ISO 3382-2 standard. The average reverberation time was 1.39 seconds – well below the 1.8-second limit set by Polish standard PN-B-02151-4. Results showed consistent performance throughout the space, confirming the effectiveness of the integrated Rockfon solutions.
