Reflecting brand identity in the office design
Eckes-Granini’s Finnish office in Turku was recently renovated to align its interior design with the company’s vibrant brand identity. Led by Arco Architecture, the refurbishment introduced Rockfon Eclipse, Rockfon Koral, and Rockfon Sonar to improve acoustics and update outdated interiors. The project prioritised flexibility, comfort, and a distinctive visual language across shared workspaces and meeting rooms.
Balancing Aesthetics and Function
The renovation project was guided by the need to update interiors that felt outdated and disconnected from Eckes-Granini Finland’s visual identity. Arco Architecture began by assessing the existing layout and atmosphere, finding that visitors preferred the conference areas over the main office space.
Eckes-Granini’s popular juice brands are known for their bright, playful designs, which were missing from the original space. Interior architect Nina Wester noted that the office had a 1970s-2000s aesthetic and lacked cohesion with the company's image, especially during recruitment visits.
The redesign introduced shared social spaces to strengthen community among staff. The upstairs level, once fragmented into oversized individual offices, was transformed with a new break room and product showroom to encourage interaction and flexible use.
Acoustic control played a key role in shaping the renovation. To balance functionality with creativity, Rockfon Eclipse islands in the Circle shape were used across open-plan areas. These organic forms, inspired by raw materials and production processes, reflect the natural qualities of the juice brands.
To retain the building’s industrial character, design choices celebrated the raw structure. Folded sheet metal and exposed services remained visible, creating a contrast between the clean acoustic lines and the building’s origin. Rockfon Koral and Rockfon Sonar were also installed to support acoustic performance throughout.
Meeting rooms were individually themed and named after the company's product lines. The Marli room, for example, pays tribute to local apple orchards, with curved chairs and suspended circular acoustic panels evoking the roundness of fruit and trees.
