Our core material is stone wool made from volcanic stone – an abundant material that is endlessly replenished by the Earth.

Continuously supporting more sustainable construction

1991

First internal recycling plant for Rockfon established in the Netherlands, allowing used stone wool to be made into briquettes.

1996

An electric melter is installed at Saint-Éloy-les-Mines, offering the first low-carbon production of stone wool for Rockfon products.

2012

A partnership is created with RGS Nordics, leading to the recycling of over 10 000 tonnes of stone wool per year in the Nordic region.

2021

90 percent of Rockfon products produced in Europe achieve Cradle to Cradle Certification® for the first time.

2024

Our production line in Roermond, Netherlands, begins conversion to electric melting technology using low-carbon electricity.

2025

ROCKWOOL concludes its first power purchase agreement for solar energy in the Netherlands.
